I started in this trade in 2016, crawling through attics in Baldwin Park and La Puente with a headlamp and a notebook. What I wrote down was mostly air leaks: top plates pulling conditioned air straight into the rafters, can lights cut into ceilings with no sealing, exhaust fans venting into insulation instead of through the roof. That notebook turned into a standard. Now I run every job through the same sequence: seal first, test with a blower door, then insulate. I still climb up when a crew finds something weird, which in La Puente happens more than you’d think - the 1950s ranch stock in north La Puente has different framing than the 1970s split-levels near Amar Road, and neither matches the newer construction south of the 60. Jin P., Apprentice
Jin joined us in 2024 after two years in residential HVAC. He’s learning the full envelope sequence from the bottom up - literally, starting with crawl-space vapor barriers and working toward attic air sealing and blower-door testing. He’s already certified in Owens Corning AttiCat blown-in installation and handles most of our prep work on rodent-proofing jobs, which in La Puente means sealing every gap larger than a quarter before we add insulation.
